When
we decided to breed toy poodles we made some guidelines about the
type of program we wanted to develop. We started going to dog shows
to learn what the industry is about and that phase and we also
visited other breeders to learn as much as possible.
From this research we
decided to set several goals. Goals that were to be a guide for the
type of program we would develop.
Quality was one of
the things that we set as a primary goal. It takes no more time or
care to raise quality animals as it does to raise poor quality ones.
We selected breeders that met our stringent requirements for a dog
in our breeding program.
After having
experienced poodles that were not pleasant to be around, we decided
that to offer loving pets we needed to start with breeders that were
well mannered and affectionate. Not misbehaving animals that would
produce bad mannered offspring.
The next most
important point to us was the freedom from genetic defects. One
thing we certainly did not want to do was produce and sell dogs with
genetic defects which would doom the purchaser to a bad experience
with a dog that would be a problem after the family became attached
to the puppy.
We
like to breed animals with proper breed traits. So we have selected
dogs with Champions in their pedigree to maintain structure, hair
coat and other breed characteristics. We would like to one day breed
a dog that would be shown to be a champion.
Most importantly we
did not want to be a puppy factory. Or goal is to raise quality
puppies that go to loving homes and become companion pets. So we may
not have puppies for sale at all times, but remember quality comes
first.
We will breed for toy
and tiny toy poodles and sometimes will get a teacup. We are not
interested in breeding teacups as they offer many more challenges.
